Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Osteopathy@rebeccaparish.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Osteopathy is a hands-on, drug-free approach to healthcare that focuses on the muscles, joints, and connective tissues. It aims to improve mobility, reduce pain, and support the body’s natural ability to heal.

Osteopathy may help with back and neck pain, joint pain, sports injuries, headaches, posture-related discomfort, pregnancy-related aches, and general muscle tension.

Your first appointment includes a full case history, discussion of your symptoms, and a physical assessment. With your consent, treatment may begin during the same session.

Treatment typically includes gentle manual techniques such as stretching, massage, joint mobilisation, and soft tissue work. Techniques are adapted to suit your age, condition, and comfort level.

Treatment is usually gentle and should not be painful. Some people may experience mild soreness afterwards, similar to post-exercise stiffness, which typically settles within 24–48 hours.

The number of sessions varies depending on your condition and how long you have had symptoms. Your osteopath will discuss a personalised treatment plan after your assessment.
